Welcome to the GI Research Club
Introduction
The Gastrointestinal (GI) Research Club is an integral part of the American Society for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Healthcare (ASIDE). Established to foster a supportive and inclusive environment, our club is dedicated to advancing the field of gastroenterology through rigorous research and collaboration. We focus on nurturing and supporting medical students, internal medicine residents, IMG resident applicants, and GI fellowship applicants in the United States.
Relationship with ASIDE
As a specialized group under the umbrella of ASIDE, the GI Research Club benefits from and contributes to ASIDE’s overarching goals of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the healthcare sector. ASIDE provides support and resources that enhance our research capabilities and extend our outreach and impact. This partnership allows us to offer a platform where emerging and established researchers can thrive in an environment that values diverse perspectives and equitable opportunities.
Main Objectives
Our main objectives are:
- Support and Mentorship: To provide guidance and support to IMGs, medical students, and residents navigating the complex pathways of medical education and specialization in gastroenterology.
- Research Advancement: To conduct and promote high-quality research that addresses both foundational and innovative aspects of gastroenterology.
- Professional Development: To enhance the professional growth of our members through exposure to conferences, publication opportunities, and networking events.
- Community Building: To create a supportive community that fosters collaboration and shared learning among members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience.
