FAQ
Is this program lowering standards for publication?
No. All manuscripts undergo the same rigorous peer review process. This program provides resources to help researchers meet existing standards, not change them.
How does this program address systemic inequities in academic publishing?
We acknowledge that support services alone cannot address all barriers. This program is one component of ASIDE’s broader commitment to equity, which includes diversifying editorial boards, reviewer pools, and advocating for structural changes in academic publishing.
Is this a one-time initiative?
No. The ASIDE Inclusive Scholars Program is a cornerstone program with dedicated ongoing funding and clear sustainability metrics.
How do you define “underrepresented”?
We utilize region-specific data on publishing rates and academic representation while recognizing the intersectional nature of underrepresentation. Our definition is regularly reviewed by our diversity advisory board to ensure relevance.
What happens if my paper is not accepted?
Participation in the program does not guarantee publication. However, all participants receive detailed feedback and may resubmit revised manuscripts with continued support.
