Science Visioning
Populations experiencing health disparities are disproportionately affected by chronic diseases, poor health outcomes, and higher mortality rates. In recognition of these challenges, ASIDE Healthcare initiated a science visioning process in 2024 to redefine and revolutionize the approach to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in healthcare research. This process has led to the development of thirty specific research strategies across three core pillars: methods and measurement, etiology, and interventions. These strategies are designed to establish a new paradigm to stimulate research that improves health equity and narrows the gaps in health disparities.
The visioning strategies have received endorsements from the Director of ASIDE Healthcare, The American Society for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Healthcare, and numerous stakeholders in the extramural scientific community. These strategies are also incorporated into the upcoming strategic plan for health equity research, guiding the research agenda at ASIDE to advance this critical field.
