GI Research Club
Cannabis for a better life
A collaborative community advancing gastroenterology through mentorship, structured research training, and inclusive teamwork supporting students, residents, IMGs, and fellowship applicants
Our History
Founded in 2022, the GI Research Club was established under the auspices of the American Society for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Healthcare (ASIDE). The club was created to provide an inclusive academic home for individuals pursuing careers in gastroenterology, including medical students, internal medicine residents, international medical graduates, and GI fellowship applicants. Since its inception, the club has grown into a collaborative research community, contributing abstracts, case reports, and scholarly work to regional and national scientific meetings.
Our Mission
The mission of the GI Research Club is to cultivate academic excellence, structured mentorship, and collaborative research within gastroenterology. We are dedicated to guiding members from research idea generation through manuscript development, abstract submission, and publication. Through peer collaboration, faculty mentorship, and standardized research workflows, we empower trainees to build strong academic portfolios while advancing meaningful contributions to digestive health research.
Our Vision & Leadership
Our vision is to become a nationally recognized research community that advances gastroenterology through diversity, equity, and scholarly excellence. We strive to develop future clinician-scientists and academic leaders equipped to address complex healthcare challenges with rigor, integrity, and compassion.
The GI Research Club is led by Dr. Hazem Abosheashaa, whose commitment to education, mentorship, and an inclusive research culture has been central to the club’s growth and impact.
